WHEN THERE IS A HOLIDAY OR WEATHER RELATED DELAY - GARBAGE & RECYCLING MAY BE PUSHED TO SATURDAY. PLEASE BE PATIENT, COLLECTIONS WILL RESUME AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.
Garbage & recycling is collected by County Waste. County Waste is a private company, not affiliated with any county. The Borough contracts with them to provide this service. The current contract will run until December 31, 2020. Collection day is Friday for both Recycling & Garbage. GARBAGE, RECYCLING AND ONE BULK ITEM WILL BE COLLECTED EVERY FRIDAY.
Single family homes will be billed as one unit. Multi-unit properties will be billed by the number of apartments at that address and will be provided with a set of containers for each unit.
Containers can be placed at the curb after 6:00 p.m. on Thursday night and empty containers must be removed from the curb by 8:00 p.m. on collection day (Friday).
Recycling is "single stream" - ALL recyclable materials can be put in the same container (green lid). No need to separate cardboard, paper, glass, plastic, aluminum, etc.
DO NOT PUT televisions or electronics in with recyclables, they cannot be collected by law and will be taken out of the can and left at the curb.
Commercial units are eligible to participate as well, but must call the borough to elect to participate in the service. If your property is a combination of residential apartments and commercial unit(s), you will received a charge for each residential unit. The charge for the commercial unit(s) is optional. (Please contact the borough office for additional information - 570-785-3326).
Two large containers with connected lids and wheels were
distributed to all residential properties in the borough.
The cost to each residential unit for this service is $15.50 per month.
This fee is added to the Monthly Sewer bill, and is the responsibility of the Property Owner. Failure to pay this bill will result in late charges and interest if the delinquent fees are submitted to G.H. Harris for collection.
