Parks & Recreation ADVISORY Board Meetings

December's meeting of FC PARKS AND RECREATION will be cancelled due to the holiday season and all the hustle and bustle. 

Our meetings will resume on Thursday January 9, 2020 7:00pm on the second floor of the FC Borough Building and each meeting will be held the second Thursday of each month.

Elections of officers will be held at the January meeting.

A great New Years Resolution, help out your community and volunteer with Parks and Recreation 🙂

Lot of great things to accomplish this year.

SOUP COOK-OFF 2020

SOUP COOK-OFF 2020

The 2nd Annual Soup Cook-off will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Registration and soup setup begins at 10:30 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place participants.

Restaurants and individuals are encouraged to submit entries. There is no fee to enter. The public is charged a $5 entry fee to sample all the soups and vote for their favorite(s). There will also be a Corn Hole Tournament for Adults and Children.

 ICE FISHING DERBY - SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2020 AT KENNEDY PARK.

Originally planned for January 25, it was postponed due to ice conditions on the pond.

The Forest City Police Department will supervise a Children’s Ice Fishing Derby. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. The Derby starts at 10:00 a.m. This event is sponsored by the Forest City Lions Club and NEP Telephone. Please call Chief Rowan at 570.785.3453 for more details about the Derby.

2020 PLEDGE CAMPAIGN

Download our pledge form here to print, complete & submit.  Thank you in advance for your donation or pledge.  All proceeds will be used for future projects at the Forest City Parks. One of our first projects is replacement of the gazebo, then upgrades to the electrical and plumbing in the Kennedy Park Building and pavilion.

NEAREA TELECOM. PIONEER CLUB DONATION

dONATION to F.C. Parks & Recreation - NOVEMBER 4, 2019

Ms. Marlene Sample, member of NEAREA Telecom. Pioneer Club presented Councilwoman Amy Bean and Council President Nicholas Cost with a check in the amount of $100 to be used for Parks & Recreation upcoming events.  NEAREA is affiliated, nationally, with the Independent Telecommunications Pioneer Associaton of Hinesville, GA and more closely with the Independent Telecomm. Companies of the North East AREA of PA which includes NEP Telephone Co. of Forest City. The vision of ITPA if "Volunteers leading through community service".

FOREST CITY REGIONAL WATERSHED TEAM

A huge thanks to Ms. Zevan, FCR Advisor and the FCR 

Watersheds Team, who cleaned up Kennedy Park for their service/environmental project.  This is an annual effort that is very much appreciated.  Ms. Zevan and her group do a wonderful job.
